Takaaki Nakagami got a nice surprise whilst at the Honda Racing Thank You Day when he was presented with his 2018 bike complete with new livery.
The LCR Honda rider is moving up from Moto2 to MotoGP this season, and whilst the Japanese rider had taken part in the end of season tests, this was the first time that he had seen what the new bike will look like.
Eagle eyed fans will notice that it bears a striking resemblance to his Moto2 bike that he used in 2017, due to the prominence of his Idemitsu sponsorship which no doubt helped in his transition to MotoGP, as well as Honda and Dorna’s desire to see a Japanese rider on the grid.
Nakagami was present at Motegi for the traditional end of year event where Honda Racing say thank you to the fans of all motorsport, where their two and four wheel racers come together for a series of events to give back to the Japanese faithful.
Honda, Idemitsu and LCR prepared this special surprise for me and the new livery is absolutely fabulous. I am sure that all the fans liked it too! It was nice to spend the day with Marc (Marquez) Dani (Pedrosa) and all the HRC riders. I think that Honda Racing Thanks Day is a unique event for our fans and their families because they have the opportunity to meet and greet their heroes. I can not wait to start the season with LCR Honda IDEMITSU Team.
