The FIM have released an updated 2016 MotoGP provisional calendar with a number of races moved around the calendar due to clashes with Formula 1 and recent changes to their calendar for next season. The FIM and Formula 1 have an informal agreement to avoid racing on the same weekend and as such four races have been moved due to these clashes.
The German and British Grand Prix have been moved due to Formula 1 scheduling their Silverstone round on July 10th – the same as the Sachsenring MotoGP round with the British MotoGP due to take place the following week. As a result of F1’s change, the German MotoGP round has been put back a week to July 17th and the British MotoGP has been moved back to the September 4th to avoid any clashes.
The Malaysia Grand Prix, scene of much controversy this year, has been re-arranged to avoid clashing with the Suzuka F1 round as having both races in the same time zone would cause conflicts and TV ratings to decrease. Sepang will now be the final race in the three flyaways which caused the final race of the season to be pushed back a week with the season now finishing on 13th November – a week later than this season.
