Aleix Espargaro will enter a team into next year’s Moto3 championship, following his involvement with the Spanish CEV Championship this season.
The NGM Forward racing rider has been involved with the RBA Racing Team with recent Moto3 wildcard Gabriel Rodrigo currently fifth in the championship. He is likely to remain with the team as they step up to the World Championship after he showed potential at the recent German grand prix. A second rider for the team will be announced in due course, though it’s safe to say it will more than likely be a young Spanish rider.
The Spanish championship has long been seen as feeder series for the World Championship, and a number of current Moto3 teams also run teams in the series. Calvo Team, Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0, and Mahindra all have a presence in the CEV which they use to guide young riders before they move up to the World Championship.
Espargaro follows in the footsteps of Valentino Rossi by launching a Moto3 team as well as supporting a team in the Spanish Moto3 series through his VR46 Riders Academy, and Espargaro will be hoping for similar levels of success with Sky Racing Team Vr46 enjoying race wins with Romano Fenati this season.
His own future in MotoGP has yet to be confirmed, but there is a lot of speculation linking him with the returning Suzuki team in 2015. Things are looking up for the elder Espargaro brother with a factory bike as well as his own team in 2015, so he’ll be a busy man next year that’s for sure.
